I don't wish to re-ignite the pro / anti dig debate that seems to spring up each time a recovery thread appears; however assuming the account in the link is correct, the case makes a mockery of the Protection of Military Remains Act with regard to the licence. The article states that the identity of the aircraft is not 100% clear and of the the 2 candidates both have a 'missing' crew member. I'm certain that if I applied for a licence with these unknowns it would be turned down. Jeff

Yes, but the MoD can issue themselves a licence and get a contractor in to do the work, with the help of service personnel. That's what happened here. And yes, it makes an absolute mockery of the licencing system.
