Hello all, Ive stumbled across a mystery WW2 aircraft part whilst visiting a local bottle dump. Originally dismised as a lawn mower part or similar, curiosity got the better of me and i brought this piece home. Imagine my amazement when i clean the oxidised data plate to reveal BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION!. It's dated 1944 and as mentioned in the title is a Top box assembly. It has been in a fire and has damage consistent with a crash. The dump is close to where there was a U.S army camp and also an RAF bomber crash site. The part was made after the bomber crashed, which rules that out, so what is this item?, and which aircraft type?. Help greatly appreciated as always.
