That looks good. I'm so glad it hasn't been over restored, with new skins etc. Even with new paint it looks used. Great work.

Indeed.

The repaint looks to be based on the 1944 photo of MJ627 published on p.50 of the September 2014 issue of FlyPast.

(Note the code correction).

I wonder if they were hand painted on? I have read of the paint being wet when the crews walked out to them, and they had been put on in the dark with rollers...
