Hello everyone

Now I realise this should probably go in the theatre tab up top but doesn't appear to be anything added there since October. Not to worry !

We discovered this set of home movies on disc over the weekend. Taken by a member in the 1970's it's a 33 minute collection of films including the recovery of a Beaufighter (which is the one now on display in Dayton) the Laverton 50th airshow including Mirage flying teams, a flight in a flying boat, and lots of old Museum shots etc. Some incredible footage that one person was smart enough to take during that time.

So rather than leave it in the archive I have put it up for people to enjoy and do a bit of plane spotting :)

We also found a CD of images taken by a former flying officer who happened to fly in our Beaufighter A8-328. One of the shots is of an unknown pilot flying 328, rare enough, but also in colour. Image below

Enjoy !

Interesting film thanks for posting up. Is that really an Allison V12 running in that skeletal looking P-40 near the start?

Hey Rob, believe so, I've never heard of any other engine being fitted to it during its time at the Museum. The P40 sat on a pair of P51 wings for ages as was known as the Kittystang by all. The P40 is now undergoing a full scale rebuild and the Allison is getting a full overhaul too. Be a great day when it comes out on show.
