Anyone have a full checklist of all the Chipmunks that made it?

Listing of all I saw (but 2 short of the organiser's claim of 44) listed, along with a number of photos on:

http://derbosoft.proboards.com/thread/18281/chipmunk-69th-anniversary-gathering-warden

A very entertaining event, I'm really pleased I drove down (even though it took me a little short of 5 hours to drive home in Bank Holiday Friday motorway traffic), not just for the array of Chipmunks, but the activity by the Shuttleworth aircraft, modern residents and visitors. Well done de Havilland Canada for making the first flight of the Chipmunk on what, 69 years later, would be a rare day of good weather in the UK! Seriously, I hope that 'Janie' will accept my thanks and likely all the several hundred enthusiasts and public gathered on the field to watch, and pass this thank you onto the organising team for their hard work. While I know this owners event was not organised for us, I really enjoyed the days activity at a beautiful location.

Wokka Bob, yes that is actually my list, the same one as linked to a few posts up, from the north west air news forum. Seems like we are going around in circles here, but I would welcome the opportunity to cross-check mine with another. The list makes more sense formatted into columns, but the code isn't the same on both forums, as I tried posting it here before linking it !

The rider to the list is not included above, stating:

42 aircraft are listed, but the organisers state 43 (later amended to 44) attended, so did aircraft leave early, or arrive later, or
did I keep on passing some without seeing (or photographing them!)? There was also another, "18671" (WP905/G-BNZC), in RCAF wartime
yellow towards the back of one of the Shuttleworth collection hangars, but was not a participant so clearly does not count (or does it?).

Partial thread drift. Probably not your basic spotters info! BUT! 1973-75, 60 MU RAF Leconfield (Lightnings, Jaguars, Phantoms, Whirlwind helicopters)(No1 Air Eng Sqn) also carried out little known or publicised Chipmunk Reconditioning. A varied amount of teams, fabric workers, painters & dopers and metal bashers assisted the teams in producing these aircraft to be surface finished by an assorted skills level of civilians at Kemble. I had a hit board (care of SA?) of Teams, aircraft and time on the ground. I believe the list is complete, but I am sure you know better
.
I was a mere Cpl rigger at that time but ably directed by our governor; Flt Sgt John Butterworth assisted by Chf Tech Ricky Warrington and Sgt Paddy ?(Mr high blood pressure?) Hole in thumb could be projected across the hangar floor at a great rate of knots. God bless you sir for keeping me reasonably sane!

Viscount, Many thanks for the serial listing, looks like i missed out on G-BCSA, as i had to leave before all the chippies in the flypast landed, i did note another one though, early on in the morning WB726 E, G-AOSK touched down and then took off again, straight away. That made my count of 44 arrivals in all, not including the one you reported in the hangar.

Thank you for your kind words.

The day really consisted of me inviting every Chipmunk owner I could get hold of (About 120) to pop over to Old Warden for lunch. Then I thought I would let the world know what I was doing and anything else was pure luck.

Fancy more of the same next year for the 70th?

There were 45.5 Chipmunks there in total, broken down thus:

Janie:

Congratulations on what looks like it was a fabulous event - I'm bowled over with your massive attendance, that's really impressive.

We have 50 Chipmunks on the Register here in Australia; the most I've ever seen together is eleven! This was at Groongal in 2003 (a fabled event, now sadly discontinued, on a private property near Griffith NSW). The comparatively low attendance was despite every Chipmunk owner in Australia being invited. Sure, we have the "tyranny of distance" to contend with (I flew 650 nm each way to attend for example), but your achievement remains impressive nevertheless.

There really are 11 Chipmunks in this photo!

Best regards,

Rod

All credit goes to my amazing team who backed my idea all the way. I also had a huge amount of luck with timing and weather.

There's plenty of room for improvement. I have some exciting ideas for the 70th anniversary next year.

Thanks to Damien for air-to-air photographs of the formation.
