G'day Everyone, I'm bringing this to everyone's attention to the public appeal for funds for the Australian National Aviation Museum to purchase a Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation or CAC for short, built CA-17 Mustang A68-71. This aircraft fills an important gap in the museum's CAC collection which includes, Wirraway, Wackett, Boomerang, Ceres, Winjeel, Sabre, Macchi and CA-31 Mockup. This Mustang purchase will give the museum the near complete linage of CAC built aircraft. The asking price includes funds to complete the re-assembly of the aircraft and using a propeller currently held in the museum and a loan engine the aircraft will be turned into and kept as a ground running exhibit. This will be a unique display and will complement the museum's active fleet of ground running airframes which includes, CAC Ceres, CAC Wirraway, Bristol Sycamore and Desoutter III. And in the future the Kitthyawk, Boomerang, Beaufort and more. I'd urge all of you to please help and donate in any way possible to help preserve this unique piece of Australian Aviation History. Thank you one and all for taking the time to read this. All the best. Dave Soderstrom Display Manager Australian National Aviation Museum Moorabbin Airport, Australia SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: The Museum has been offered a once in a lifetime chance to acquire a rare Australian built CAC Mustang - A CA-17 MK20 numbered A68-71 It is the third oldest surviving of its type in the world but most importantly it is the oldest surviving CAC Mustang in Australia. This aircraft was also used for CSIRO cloud seeding trials along with the Cessna 310 already in our collection so not only does it fill a major gap in the CAC collection, it also completes an important part within science and technology. To that end we need to raise funds for the aircraft. The total goal for this project is $350,000 which includes the acquisition and subsequent final restoration and assembly. It does not have a prop nor an engine (we can sort the former quickly with the prop on display and are already negotiating on an engine loan) however the rest of the aircraft is complete and in very good condition, having been inside since 1984. We ask all those who can donate or raise funds to help us out with this incredible project. Remember that any donation over $2 is Tax Deductible (The Museum is a DGR Item 1 and 4 and a registered not for profit organisation). If you know of any businesses or individuals who could help out, please pass the information on as well. We will keep you informed of any developments as they happen. Please note that you can pay by PayPal (includes credit cards) or bank transfer which you can find on our page below (click link etc) Remember to share this post and let's make this a reality. www.aarg.com.au/mustang.html

The Australian National Aviation Museum now have a public fund raising appeal going for their CAC Mustang acquisition. There are some nice rewards in return for you money donations. The link below has some photos of the project as it is currently. Please help the team preserve this piece of Aviation History, and also help the museum display the largest collection of CAC built aircraft anywhere in Australia. This includes examples of, Wirraway, Wackett, Boomerang, Ceres, Sabre, Winjeel, Macchi and the CA-31 Mockup. http://www.pozible.com/project/195714

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. Pretty impressive, just over $11K in a week raised. For those who would like to help, simply visit our website, or http://www.pozible.com/project/195714 where you can get some goodies in return. Given how awful the exchange rate is, for those in the UK, a $5AUD donation will set you back the almighty sum of 2.54GBP and yet it will speed things along for us. Be great if you can give us a hand, yes it's a US design, Australian built aircraft, but hey, we are all volunteers and need all the help we can get to preserve any aircraft ! Cheers for now :)

Hello everyone we have a crowd fundraising going currently with a very small target of $5,000. Of course we still have a long way to go but like every project we have to do this one piece at a time. Please if you can help the ANAM reach this goal its such a worthy cause. If over $60K can be raised in a weekend for a C-47 surely we can do the same for a Mustang. If you would like to donate please do so by going to either of these links. http://www.pozible.com/project/195714 http://www.aarg.com.au/the-mustang-project.html Thanks to those who have already donated. Project Update: with 21 days to go of our public fundraising we are now at $2,792 of the $5,000 goal. Please everyone we need all the help we can get to get this project over the line. To add a bit of depth to the project it's time to add some photos of the aircraft in its current condition and also one of it while in service. Thanks to those who have supported the project to date.
