It would appear that erna does not want to answer the question as to the locality of the crash site, not sure why as he only has to give a rough idea and Hampden Project would be more likely to identify the aircraft. Personally I would not help erna anymore until he becomes a bit more helpful in answering that question!

With Germany probably having its fair share of 'site robbers' I can see the logic of him not answering that question this early on.

thank you. in germany there are very strict laws in terms of metal search. so i can not name publicly the location yet. when the puzzle is solved, i will let you know. in germany the diggers are jealous of british laws...

dear members, meanwhile i am able to give further information about the crash. hampden project sent me a mail:

"...Hampden P1218 of 408 Squadron which went missing on the 22/23 October 1941, it's mission was to Mannheim, which would mean that it would have to fly over, or very near to your crash site.
The crew were.
Flight Sergeant F A Titcomb Killed
Sergeant R M Gifford ( Royal Canadian Air Force) P.O.W.
Sergeant F A G Ragg Killed
Flight Sergeant R R Walker Killed

Those that were killed are buried in Durnbach War Cemetery.""

i think, thats our lost aircraft. if i get any other news, i will let you know. thank you so far, regards, erna!
