Just how soon did the British airstaff become aware that atomic weapons were well on the way to fruition? It strikes me as odd that training polices changed quite dramatically in mid 43 before even Germany could be viewed as a beaten entity. Given that it took 18-24 months to train a heavy bomber pilot it looks as if someone pulled the plug on the training stream quite early in the game. Any ideas anyone?

It was not only BC that had reductions this also effected Coastal Command. In March 1945 AOC-in-C Sholto Douglas was asked by the AM to reduce his strike wing squadrons with lick he was able to put this off for a few months.
