It’s time to start a 2019 Newark Air Museum Briefing thread, through which I will endeavour to keep people advised of the day to day activities at NAM.

Again on behalf of everyone at Newark Air Museum I would just like to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who visited in 2018 and supported the museum events and activities.

Details will continue to be added both here and to the – Latest News Page on the NAM website.

Also, details about the other events such as the Indoor Aeroboot / Aerojumble Table Top Sale – 13 April 2019; etc. can be found on the Events Page here!

Happy New Year everyone and at a convenient time would it be possible for a kindly Mod to lock the 2018 Briefing thread?

Final reminder for now, NAM is back open at 10am on Wednesday 2nd January.

TwinOtter23 do you think there might be a chance of a smal military vehicle show this year?

Good evening chevpol, the full list of 2019 events at Newark can be found on this page of their website http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/2019_Special-Events

The mostly likely military vehicle involvement is likely to be at the Autumn 1940 Weekend on 26 & 27 October - great chance for the re-enactors to test out their winter gear!

That said I did hear a few whispers about possibly more military vehicle involvement at Cockpit-Fest 19 on 22 & 23 June; not sure what though!

I had another look at your excellent NAM web site and noted that you - Quote: "1963 - Remains of Westland Wallace located near RAF Cranwell, Lincolnshire."
Is this the one at the RAF Museum? Just interested to know what happened to it. Thanks.

The Wallace fuselage frames located near Cranwell, and wing sections acquired later by the founders of Newark Air Museum were indeed used in the rebuild that is now displayed at RAFM Hendon.

The items left Newark in March 1977, originally in a promised exchange for a Red Arrows Gnat. This airframe exchange was never completed, but a financial settlement was made in 1987.

The subject is covered briefly in the museum's "Preservation Pioneers" history book! http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/NAM_History_Book
