We have had another unusual aircraft overhead Ware (Herts) today. A Do.28 Skyservant flew over SSE at about 12.45 and on reciprocal at about 14.30. From and to DX perchance?
Anyone know it's destination?
Thanks Bob but I guess it's a bit more technical than that! Anybody else got any ideas? I spoke to one of the owners of a shiny DC-3 at the "Daks over Duxford" event and his response was that it took 10 volunteers 3 weeks to do his DC-3. Wouldn't surprise me judging by the finish they'd got on it.

Yes, that would be along the method used as outlined in the video - you can't achieve that level of polished finish seen on G-IRTY without the use of power tools (a level completely separate than if one were to simply polish it by hand with rags and compound). Once you do that to the metal, however, you have to continue polishing it to prevent corrosion from setting in - it is especially important to get the exhaust staining removed quickly as it will start pitting the surface of the metal in a short amount of time. There are a large number of Mustangs flying in the US with that level of polished finish, and now a Sea Fury as well (N63SF): https://scontent.ffcm1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...ef&oe=5DBDBDB4
Very pleasing to see PT462 back in the air this afternoon, fully recovered from the Denham incident on Feb 27th. No doubt she'll be earning her keep again very soon.

She is stunning. Has the cockpit been fitted with modern instrumentation?

How do they manage to get that finish and probably more importantly, how do they maintain it in use?

Buchon debut of G-AWHR at DX today!
Many thanks to the Air Leasing pilot that came through in the "new" Buchon G-AWHR this afternoon. First time since September 1968.
Much appreciated by all of the Buchon lovers here.

Great photos.
The Buchon looks great - that scheme has really grown on me.
The Spitfire looks gorgeous, too.
