AN/APN-1 radar altimeter aerial, common late-war and early post war fit to many aircraft, both piston and jet. Standard version had two ranges, coarse accuracy to 4,000 feet and fine accuracy to 400 feet. I once had the complete system from a Canberra.

Hi

I have a complete system which I suspect would work first time if I switched it on. Used by Stirlings for Gardening which required accurate low level flying I believe. The antennas I have are just painted black.

Cheers

The Meteor NF carried 2 of these aerials. Removed from the 14 on conversion to NF(T) spec. You can still see where they were mounted under WS788's fuselage.
