-We can rule out "The Lion Has Wings", 'cos they were wearing white overalls in the scramble scenes.
LO- squadron codes ring a bell... but which one?

-The Spitfires look to be early marks, the filming is in the winter, judging by the state of the trees, Angels One Five featured Hurricanes and most of the Spitfires in Reach for the Sky were low back models.
Must be something made in the 40's, but haven't a clue what.

-All incorrect so far, although some good guesses!
LO codes were 602 "City of Glasgow" Squadron.

-Is it some wartime government propaganda film, probably from about 1941.
Or a black and white out take from Pearl Harbor!!!!!!!

It was a thinly-disguised bit of propaganda, yes, but it was made by Hollywood...

-Better 'fess up... :o
Once the hint was dropped about Hollywood it was the only Hollywood film I could think of right for the time, and a quick Google threw up the mention of 602 Squadron.
Go on, throw us a few more - that was interesting!

-Well at least I got the date right, never seen the film, probably have in the dim, dark past on a Sunday afternoon. This lot must be 'Dark Blue World' and probably all the a/c are MH434.

-Nope - look closer ;)
(Plus, MH434 didn't appear in DBW)
