The local parish mag just published a very poor reproduction of a WW2 picture.

13 bods stood in front of a Wellington.

The locale suggests it might be Feltwell or Methwold, but that can't be guaranteed.

I have three names from the 13.

F/Sgt A Pugh

F/Sgt J Walters

F/Lt Cyril Ingleby.

Can the forum magic any further information out of nothing?

I have run a search for Cyril Ingleby on the London Gazette site and found the following.

19th March 1942, Flight Sergeant 937625 Cyril INGLEBY (118898) commissioned to the rank of Pilot Officer. (Gazette Issue 35541, 28 Apr 42).

1st October 1942, Plt. Offs. (prob.) to be Flg. Offs. on prob. (war
subs), C. Ingleby (118898) (Gazette Issue 35791, 17 Nov 42).

29th December 1942, Pilot Officer Cyril INGLEBY (118898) Royal Air Force
Volunteer Reserve. (Gazette Issue 35837, 25 Dec 42).

19th March 1944, Flg. Off. to Flt. Lt. (war subs.): C. INGLEBY, D.F.C. (118898). (Gazette Issue 36458, 4 Apr 44).

1st July 1946, Flight Lieutenant (war subs) to Flight Lieutenant C. Ingleby DFC (118898). (Gazette Issue 37870, 31 Jan 47).

19th September 1945, In accordance with A.M.O. A. 146/47 the undermentioned officers are granted the seniorities in their substantive ranks as stated: — Flight Lieutenants:— G. INGLEBY, D.F.C. (118898). (Gazette Issue 37892, 25 Feb 47).

There is one more mention in the LG but it is a copy of that in issue 37870.

F/lt Cyril Ingleby

I suspect the picture you are refering to is at Feltwell and you will probably see it on the Feltwell website. If this is the case I can confirm Cyril Ingleby as one of the crewmen - he was my grandfather. I have an original copy of the photo + many others.

It was indeed - and your grandfather was identified. I was interested to see if the forum could flush out any more information.

Welcome.
