I'm hoping that someone out there might have a bit more info for a colleague of mine who's father was the rear Gunner. Lancaster ED715 (GT-J) 156 Sqn Date 5.5.43 Crew: Sqn Ldr B L Duigan (DFC (RAAF) (Pilot) Sgt R Drysdale Flt Sgt B H Hood F/O D J Drake F/O J C Eade Sgt K Richards Flt Lt J A Rogers (Rear Gunner) Aircraft took off from Warboys at 22.26, on return to base bad weather and poor visibility caused aircraft to divert but as there were no alternatives available the crew decided to try to make 'home'. Due to lack of fuel the crew abandoned the aircraft over Chatteris at 04:45, although no-one was killed Drysdale and Rogers were injured on landing. If anyone out there happens to know where the aircraft finally crashed and if there are any pictures or relevant info it would be much appreciated. cheers john

Hi there My father in law helped excavate the crash site of ED715 next to New Road Chatteris, I have more information if you are still on here? I have one of the barrage baloon cutter devices from the leading edge of the wing off ED715 from the crash site.
