I think I've always regarded the use of the word "infamous" as a slight - am I wrong?

I was on an organised visit to RAF Cosford/D.C.A.E. today - and very interesting/enjoyable it was. Thanks to those who showed us around.

However one thing upset me a bit. In the emergency equipment training area were a whole line of lockers, each with the name, photo and brief details of some RAF personality - Trenchard, Whittle, Gibson, etc. I didn't have time to look at them all but was close to the one named after Guy Gibson and something shouted out WRONG.

The write up referred to 617 Squadron as "....the infamous dambusters...." Ironically the College have two or three Tornados in use for training - didn't notice if any of them were ex-617!!!

Roger Smith.

I think "Legendary" was perhaps the word they were looking for?

Germans probably think he was correct the first time.:D

I have to say it reminds me rather of "The Three Amigos", with the "Infamous El Guapo"!
