Can anyone tell me why the accumulator cables have to be secured in dummy terminal blocks when the aircrafts accumulator (battery) is removed pleased?

I've always wondered about this!

Perhaps if ground power were applied or the engine(s) run then the loose cables might short circuit to the airframe.

residual power left from connection/disconnection also again to protect from ingress of foreign objects moister etc that could cause short circuits plug does not get damaged by being dislodged from towing across airfields etc

Thanks everyone. Thanks also to Tony for uploading that brilliant book! I read through the section and only understood about half of it!
