These 5 wheels were at my local auction house which is actually on the site of where RAF Burtonwood was located.

They didn't sell. The story given by the person who brought in the wheels is that they were "obtained" from the RAF Burtonwood site some time after the Americans left.

I have taken a set of pictures but now realise there would be casting numbers which by chance I have captured but they are not very clear. If necessary I can return to the auction house and clean them up to get a better pictures.

Tyre size 29x8.00-15

Approx dimensions, overall diameter 48", outer wheel rim diameter  17", bore 2"

Any help would be much appreciated.

If interested in acquiring them please PM me.

If you think they might be American it might be worth asking the folks on the WIX forum. I could post it on there if you'd like?

Would a casting number relate it to a specific plane?

Hi, The wheels have now been sold at auction, I hope not just for scrap.

Thank you for your interest.

Do you know what they sold for? This might give some indication of whether they were sold for scrap or to a collector.
