When you see the number of years that members have been here and the number of posts they made, it’s a real shame that there’s hardly any reply from Key to the feedback given here. As soon as there‘s an alternative, this forum will be dead.

Hi all,

I know its been a while but developers have been working on the forum constantly to fix comments you have raised about the forum layout etc... I am expecting an update soon on what will occur in the future (regarding updates and forum fixes) and once I know, I'll pass the information on to you all.

Kind regards,

Khalem

Thank you for the reply Khalem, it sounds you have a thankless task on your hands.

I feel that this forum is what it is now and it cannot become something its not, it will have a bit of an impact on Key but not going to destroy anything.

whoever chose this platform is the one to appoint blame they neither understood or maybe cared for what this community is/was, the last forum change killed off the few and this creation has killed off the many.

thank you to Key for providing this FREE community at your own cost.

I will hang around and stick my toe in, i miss some of the threads we have but hey ho thats progress.

As I have said a couple of times already my years and posts count does not change. Is this a specific punishment for me or have others noticed the same thing? It's not so important, compared with the other numerous complaints, but it's just another sign of the decline of the site.

I see Khalem is back this morning, still saying he is "expecting an update soon", but why is it taking so long? I hope not simply waiting for us to get used to the downturn.

Same for me re. the posts count, Laurence and I lost 40 posts in the change to the new forum too. I know this because I was fast approaching the 1000 post milestone and had only 5 more posts to go. So from having 995 posts I dropped to 955 and have now been "stuck" on 961 for the last 2 weeks or more. Frustrating but a minor complaint I suppose compared to all the other problems with the current forum.

I do fear they are hoping we will stop complaining and just accept our lot eventually.

I wonder if there is any way to "see" the old forum as it was when it got chopped. Or has it gone for ever off into the aether? Any software experts who could comment?

I tried to look at a few of the threads on Wayback Machine but all it says is that that page hasn't been archived. It would be nice if we could access all those threads.

It looks great though - Key as it used to be - sadly missed!

The main reason I sweat my 40 missing posts, Bob, is that I suspect the threads they pertained to have totally disappeared too! I'm sure Duxford Diary is not alone in doing a vanishing act!

It seems that the damage has been done now.

Promises of changes count for very little.

Try putting the forum back as it was and you might, just might, save it.

Bob: Thanks for the link to the Key archive. Most useful.

Edited: PS. After trying several it looks as if threads are inaccessible. Maybe it's just me but I fear the worst. Mothminor seems to find the same.

Hi all,

I've only just signed up to the new-style forum to confirm that it does not suit my purposes and I doubt I will be taking any further part in the discussions on here.

Having observed this farcical, shambolic performance over the last few weeks, I can only conclude that either Key have set out to deliberately rid themselves of the old "community" in order to move in new directions (in which case, give yourselves a bonus) or they are demonstrating the most appalling lack of managerial, technological and team-leading prowess (oh well, just give yourselves a bonus anyway).

Promises to bring back the "Duxford 2019" thread are far from sufficient for me (I never actually looked at it).   The last thread I added a comment to was entitled "White Lancaster" and it was a request from a poster to help identify a Spitfire and Lancaster at RAF Sutton on Hull in 1954.  There were only three (?) photos and a few replies, yet this thread seems to have disappeared too.  The shocking (to me) aspect of this is that, if I recall correctly, the OP said he was serving at Sutton on Hull in 1954 and he must therefore be of a pretty advanced age.  What a way to be treated!

I'll probably hover a while in the hope I'm proven wrong but my expectations are that within a few weeks, the typical thread on here will be "What's your favourite Mark of Spitfire?" and "Your top ten World War Two bombers?"...

Meanwhile, this runs two ways.  I've been meaning to cancel my sub for a long time.  Now seems like the right moment.

Bye all, hope to see you in a better place.

Perhaps more of the contributors especially with the "diary" type threads should consider a move to UK Airshow review forum like DCW and the Duxford diary has ?

Its a site i've used for many years and never once has it had any of this nonsense like this site has and continues to do .

Just a thought .

Can anyone help me with posting photos?

When I update the Stirling Project thread, the only option it seems to give me is adding a hyperlink to the post when I upload a jpg file. Also there's no post preview like there used to be, am I just being a bit dim and missing something??

Nope, sadly John you are not being dim or missing something. That's the way it is. You'll find more problems too and you won't even need to look too hard!

Blue 2 seems to have sorted it in his NF Meteor thread.

As a (reasonably) long-time member here (although admittedly far less frequent contributor), I don't find the new format very user-friendly. Only seeing about 2 thread posts at a time makes it sooooo tedious, so I think I'll join the exodus and quit.

Hope to still see familiar names elsewhere, and that the hosts of other forums like RAF Commands never copy what's happened on here.

Thank you, all you contributors for the photos, news and knowledge you've shared over the years. "We'll Meet Again", as the song went.

I feel that I have become, in the period since the 'upgrade', a 'looker' rather than a 'poster'. If in that respect I am representative, then it seems inevitable that this forum will become moribund soon. If the 'posters' give up posting, there will be nothing for the 'lookers' to look at. No forum can survive under those circumstances.
