The U.S. Air Force released requests for proposals on October 24, 2019

for a limited number of Textron Aviation AT-6 Wolverine

and

Sierra Nevada Corp / Embraer A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft.

A contract of the A-29 is expected by the end of a year, followed by an AT-6 contract in early 2020.

 October 29, 2019 - The State Department has made a determination approving

a possible Foreign Military Sale to Japan

for the upgrade of up to ninety-eight (98) F-15J aircraft

to a Japanese Super Interceptor (JSI) configuration

for an estimated cost of $4.5 billion. 

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today.

Japan's F-15s get improved mission systems

...includes the Raytheon AN/APG-82(V)1 active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, the Advanced Display Core Processor II (ADCP II) mission computer, and the AN/ ALQ-239 Digital Electronic Warfare System (DEWS) that feature in Boeing's latest Advanced Eagle configuration. It does not, however, include the Advanced Eagle's fly-by-wire controls, large area display (LAD) cockpit, or the two reactivated underwing weapons stations (increasing the number from nine to 11).
