It will be interesting to see how the performance compares to the previous versions.
I'd be surprised if they focused on performance instead of lower SFC and lower MTBO.

Check the date of the article. 30 VK-2500's is the 2015 figure. 200 is the number for 2016.

Yes, and given that they have been planning to make 50 all Russian engines in 2013, in 2014, and in 2015 (more actually, given 10 completed prior), this is yet another year of missed plans. At this point one wonders of the directors @ Klimov have any idea what is going on on the production floor.

The issue I see with Yak-130 being used for air policing is it's speed. It won't have an easy time ctaching an airliner or business jet as maximum speeds are similar.

It could be equipped with engines with afterburners.

Impressive FCS, the falling leaf at 1:15ish mark..... engines have come a long way in the last 30 years, in an F-14 that would have been an ejection event.

New photo report of production @ Progress. Ka-52s and Ka-62.

http://bmpd.livejournal.com/1734646.html

Su-35S performed a series of test in Algeria supposedly, early this month.

Oh wow, Ka-62 has actually progressed. Because between the previous pic of the frame and the one before that again, which was taken 1-1.5 years before there were no progress at all. Anyone still remember that it was supposed to fly before MAKS 2013...?

If you are operating in mountainous areas of the globe (Afghanistan, Caucasus) 4 pylons would be enough, or even just 2.

Looking at the pics, six pylons have appeared with the introduction of the 4th batch of Kamovs, the first one being cn 04-01 (yellow 27 RF-91117). There is only a handful of Ka-52s still having four pylons..
