and integrtaion of the domestic LWS and MAWS found on the Su-35S would be quite costly..

Why? The Malaysians coughed up for a system with only a small fighter batch. It can't be that bad per unit with a sizable RuAF order and domestic components.

Plus, you have to balance cost of the units + integration vs the cost of the purchase as a whole. These are expensive (even @ the rates RuAF pays, which are pretty excellent) large birds that can serve 30+ years.
Skimping on really (IMO) important defensive components that exist is a poor return on the rest of the purchase you have made. I'd understand if it was just the initial batch of 30 planes, or even the follow up, but at this point we are looking at 60 AF birds + another order for 60-75, and a Navy requirement of up to 50 air-frames. The time/money needed to integrate a defensive suit on par with Su-35 is a no brainer trade-off in my eyes.

A really good photo-report of production @ Aviastar-SP, Russia's biggest aviation plant. Aviastar now produces the Il-76MD-90 family and derivatives, Tu-204, repairs An-124s, and also are part of the SSJ and MS-21 production chains.
The plant employs around 10,000 people.

Watching the newly released video footage, it looks like the Su-34 has a new sensor fitted at the root of the nose pitot.

Only seen on Bort Red 03 at the moment - anyone know what it is ?? RWR ???

Screen capture from the video......

Ken

It looks like optical sensor. Maybe new MAWS or LWR.

Looks like a sacrificial surface for protection from the shearing action of airflow at the base of the pilot.

Repaired and modernized Tu-160 (though not the "big" modernization AFAIK):
