Saab AJ37 Viggen från F6, flyguppvisningen den 8 juni 1986 vid Torsby flygfält.

...but belly-lands, because the undercarriage would not come out again... ??

It concerns this incident:

https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/78675

Date: 08-JUN-1986
Time: c. 10.50
Type:SAAB AJ 37 Viggen
Owner/operator: Swedish Air Force
Registration: F 04
C/n / msn: 37019
Fatalities: Fatalities: 0 / Occupants: 1
Other fatalities: 0
Aircraft damage: Written off (damaged beyond repair)
Location: Torsby - Sweden
Phase: Manoeuvring (airshow, firefighting, ag.ops.)

While performing an air-display at Torsby airfield the aircraft hit trees at very low altitude.

This was because the pilot performed a roll at low altitude and rather slow speed.
Consequently he lost height during the roll when the nose dropped.

He succeeded to regain height and subsequently performed an emergency, belly-landing at Karlstad´s old AP.
Bellylanded because of damaged landing-gear.

Pictures of the aftermath, showing both the broken-off trees and certainly the Viggen after having come to a standstill...

Yep, it was that bad. The pilot survived without a scratch, the Viggen was only good for spare parts...
