By: 13th May 2005 at 22:25 Permalink - Edited 1st January 1970 at 01:00
-And you'll get a degree in that? Wow, i thought here in the Netherlands we are pushing it with hobby-as-a-science, but i guess if your hobby is weird enough you can eat your heart out in the US just as well.
Good luck Sean.

-Why? You wanna come learn to eb a licensed nuclear warmonger too? :D
It's American Military University, they're a fully accredited university founded to cater to military personnel, but anyone is free to enroll. The interesting thing they have going is that you can get some really specialised degrees in defense related fields.

-Why, yes. I'm sure there must be a market for Arthur Freelance Nuclear Warfare Consultancy Inc :D It would at least make my resume even more bizarre than it is. It already includes geographical-strategical consultancy, collecting garbage and the Main Stream Media.
It's interesting that the American Military University is an open institute. Here in the Netherlands, of course well known for it's military might, we only have one private institution (halfway between a thinktank and an academy) and the Royal Military Academy. But even using their libraries as a researcher is a b!tch if you aren't attached to the institute.

-Come and think of it: if you're going nuclear, don't forget that there are other materials than uranium or plutonium to reach a critical mass. Just think of all the nice nuclear handgranades and split peas you can make with the really heavy materials. Californium, Fermium, those should have some useful isotopes. :dev2:

-Good luck with it buddy, almost enrolled in a course studying the history of conflict in the 20th century myself a few years back, I've regretted not doing it ever since.
The topics studied included all the large scale conflicts such as WWI,WWII, Korea,Vietnam, etc,as well as the "forgotten" conflicts such as the South American "Soccer Wars", the Communist insurgency in Brunei and so on. Facsinating stuff :D

-Good Luck SOC.. I just got my MA in military history and am attending the Center for Military and Strategic Studies at the U of Calgary in Alberta next year. Getting my doctorate in strategy with a very heavy influence on airpower. My research proposal concerns the Swedish air Force during the Cold War. I think you read my MA thesis awhile back. Those classes sound great, especially the Chinese and Russian air power!! I wish i could take something like that. Perhaps i should look into a few of those classes myself! Again, good luck with everything!

-Aren't those the same thing?
Not here (yet...)! Mind you, i enjoyed working as a garbageman a whole lot more than being a desk editor for one of the biggest national broadcasters. And that wasn't just because a garbageman has a far higher social ranking than an internet editor in a world where you only count if you're on TV...
