I wonder what they will call it ???

When Iran licence-built the Antonov An-140 - it was designated the IrAn-140 (clever eh ?)

If Mexico does the same, will it be callel the MexicAn-140 ??

HELLO

This Mexican wish has been around since the ZEDILLO goberment, the Antonov plant its suposse to be at CIUDAD SAHAGUN in the state of HIDALGO, just north of the MEXICAN capital where there used to be a truck factory named DINA.
The Mexican atoroties have put a lot of pressure to UKRAINE and RUSSIA it self, not only in putting an ANTONOV factory (THE ARMED FORCES HAVE 10 AN-32 IN SERVICE) but also a MIL maintenance shop, so it can provide a full maintenance for the more than 60 MIL helos in the country( Mexican uses MI-2, MI-8, MI-17 and MI-26)
There is allready a MIL maintenance facility at the MEXICAN NAVY LAS BAJADAS AIR STATION. It is to mention that the MEXICAN navy MIL fleet has not losse a single machine in accidents in almost 6 years of service(24 on strengt).
We can not say this as for the MEXICAN AIR FORCE since the MIL fleet has one of the highest level of accidents of the hole fleet( in paper 40 MIL 8/17 in service but half of it are on service)this led MEXICAN AIR FORCE to sell its 4 MIL MI-2 that where on sevice this year.

So this is good news and we hope to see some MIL MI-24 HINDS in the MEXICAN SKYES soon.

saludos.

This is the same news but fron the Antonov official webpage.

seems like both parties have reached an agreement for the manufacture of Antonov aircraft in Mexico.

Very likely the AN-32 will be built in Mexico but the manufacture of An-140 parts was also discussed according to some news sources in spanish

It is very likely that the An-140 is going to built in Mexico, neverthelss this attept by the mexican Government has has it`s roots in several previous attempts with aircraft like the Azcarate LASA-60 build under license and even sold to Japan of which 44 were built and 18 reached the Mexican Air Force wings and squadrons and with the Callair (Rockwell) AAMSA A-9B-M also built under license in Mexico.

Also the AN-32 will be upgrade by Antonov in the near future, while the Mil mi-8 building plant in the state of veracruz, Mexico still might be in studies but it will start as a workshop and later it will move to a manufacturing plant of helicopters Mi-8/17 in Mexico
