France is the last to get the Meteor. Some years ago there were guided flights of Meteor on Gripen and Eurofighter. The program was stretched because Europe is not in danger and not short of A2A missiles.

Absolutely. Introduction into service for European buyers has generally been set by the date when current stocks of BVR missiles will start reaching the end of their shelf life. There is no urgent need to buy new BVR AAMs. Integration on specific aircraft types is done when the buyers which operate those types want it - & they're not in a hurry.

BTW, the head of the Swedish air force said some time (a couple of years?) ago that the small stock of Meteors held by his force for testing were, in his opinion, ready for combat use, & in the unlikely event of a military emergency which required their use he'd have no hesitation in approving it. It was integrated on Gripen (had to be - it was the main test aircraft), & thoroughly tested.
