Hi Tornado64....Thanks for replying and you were in the area of time give or take the odd year or two.:)Zebra tailed F3 was courtesy of a tanker flight in 1990 and the sharks machine taken at Barton, Nr Manchester could have been the same year or the one after.
The phantom was the only early one taken at the Waddington photocall in 88. V.C10 at Leauchars 91ish and the chippy with the shacks in view was 91 at Lossiemouth.Jetstream and Herc both at C/Fenton and the other three shar/Viggen/GR1 all at Mildenhall early to mid90s.I put them up mainly to see what people thought of them quality wise and just picked them from a box load for being in half reasonable condition.Cheers.John.B

yep i'd say 90 was spot on , i thaught the sharks machine was shot at barton as i shot one pretty simmilar durring prepping for display and the red zebra f3 was 90 as you say

i misjudged by a year because i thaught i was still working in microbiology as a friend i went to the show with worked with me there

however at that time i'd opted for outdoor work and was working as a local authority dog warden by then

Yep we must have crossed paths that Friday or Saturday the show was on.Was that overpass in the background the M62 then as its now part of the M60 ringroad?.Its a small world when cross referring to the past in picture format and communicating in cyber space some 20 years later.
Its a long time before people say hello to each other,:) but a marvellous way anyhow to exchange views about the same event.(I'm an apprentice old git) and this technology never ceases to amaze me.Anyway I digress and those shows were brilliant, often with aircraft buzzing the control tower pretty low,a friendly atmosphere and a great canteen to boot.As soon as I dig some more slides up I'll make an effort to collect up a few and will forward them on this thread....Cheers..JB

yeah very sad about the demise of barton and woodford shows unfortunately the crowdline issue killed barton as it was pushed so far back after the post ramstien amongst other safety rules it meant there wasn't enough spectator room to make it viable

shame as it was always a superb show !!

it was a saturday or sunday !! i'd say sunday more likeley but friday deffinately not

you are correct about the bridge an unusual fact is that barton bridge contains the oldest and first laid of britains motorway foundations

as the foundations for the bridge were laid before building the motorway network commenced !!

Certainly the M60 now, feel sure Barton Bridge would have been the M63 back then. Just checked a 1995 road atlas, M63 it was !!!

Yes the Barton show were excellent, pity they are no more. Lets hope Woodford manage a last hoorah !!!

Hi 568crew....Its a favourite aircraft of mine also and was pleased to hear your looking after one.The little J.P used to run all over the area when I was a nipper up at Newcastle -Upon Tyne and my wife comes from the town they were built at during there hey day,Luton.
Its a great little aircraft with which the British aircraft industry can be proud of even today as many private PPL flyers can convert on it to fly other jets such as the gnat.I did a little write up on it on another web site a while ago and have put a link to it. http://www.militaryairshows.co.uk/jpfactsheet.htm . other than to wish you good luck with the work you do to restore the one your working, happy new year....John B..I used john Luke in a former time as these are the first two christian names of my proper handle.I never liked to use my real name in case I dropped too many clangers.:):rolleyes:

Sorry! About the name thing. I work with a team of volunteers and were restoring the JP to static condition.
I don't have any information on the aircraft other than its serial number and its a T.4. We've been working on her for about two years now.

And a Happy New Year to you too!

My most favourite Barton day was the "Auster Fly-in". circa 1974?? Anybody else remember it? I took dozens of photo's, but Lord knows where they are now.
There was also an Anniversary fly in around the same time, 50th of the Lancashire Aero CLub I seem to recall.

Hi Pee Dee,....as I only started going to the shows at the start of the 90s I cant help you with your original questioning. How ever the ones that I did see were good and hope one day you are able to find those missing pictures.

I did go to an Auster meet in Norfolk a couple of years ago and if your interested I'll put some up in this thread..Cheers....JB

Well, since 1974 I must have lived in 20 places. I've also been burgled and Flooded. Lots of stuff was lost/nicked or disregarded. I do have one scrapbook sized album left though, I keep meaning to take photo's of the photo's and put them on here.

i would have only been ten then !!

although around that time i have memmories of being taken there although the only aircraft i remember was the yak i think the story went " it was captured and the russians denied it existed

another memmory of around those years ( early seventies ) was either a millitary tattoo or a small air display over a local large park ( heaton park ) where the main attraction was an english electric lightning !!
