Four Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Izdeliye 9-13 (Variant 9-13) Fulcrum-C multi-role fighters have been delivered to the Serbian Air Force and Air Defence by the Republic of Belarus.
A handover ceremony was held at Batajnica ‘Colonel-pilot Milenko Pavlović’ Air Base on June 9 to formally accept the aircraft from Belarus. The Fulcrum-Cs – serials 18204; 18205; 18206 and 18207 – were acquired through a military-technical co-operation agreement between the two countries. The first pair were airfreighted to Serbia by an Antonov An-124 heavy-lift strategic transport on April 17. An arrival date for the remaining two MiG-29s remains unconfirmed.

These aircraft are the same four that were handed over to Serbia at the 558th Aircraft Repair Plant (ARP) in Baranovichi, Belarus, on February 25, 2019. At which time, the overhaul and modernisation of the four MiG-29s by the 558th ARP had only just begun three days prior. It was stated at the time of the handover that their overhaul was expected to take approximately 18 months, but it has taken considerably longer. The first of the refurbished Fulcrum-Cs was finally reflown at Baranovichi in the third quarter of 2020.
The four MiG-29s that were handed over at the 558th ARP in Baranovichi were construction numbers (c/ns): 2960714909; 2960715133; 2960715157 and 2960718708. Tie-ups with their new Serbian serials are unknown. The newly acquired Fulcrum-Cs will be a considerable boost to Serbia’s depleted MiG-29 fleet, which is thought to comprise ten operational aircraft at the most, operated by 101 Lovacka Avijacijska Eskadrila (101st Fighter Aviation Squadron) at Batajnica.
