Boeing has received a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract to provide 14 new H-47 Extended Range (ER) Chinook heavy-lift tactical transport helicopters for the Royal Air Force (RAF).
The delivery order, valued at US$580.59m, was awarded to the US-based manufacturer on June 22 by US Special Operations Command. The deal is a modification to an earlier order and exercises a previously negotiated option under an existing basic ordering agreement on delivery orders. The contract is expected to be completed by July 2026. The helicopters are the Block II variant of the CH-47 family, which means the UK will become the first international operator of this Chinook standard.
