What colour or livery would you most like to see your favourite aircraft carry? The thought was prompted by a picture in last month’s Aeroplane, showing Mosquito RR299 in the all-over silver scheme in which it initially flew under its Hawker Siddeley custodianship in the mid-1960s. To my eye it looked stunning, as does the picture of Mosquito T43 NZ2308 at Glyn Powell’s workshop in New Zealand. It depicts the Mosquito at its best, without the distraction of wartime camouflage breaking up one of the purest aircraft shapes ever to be penned.
