Indonesian Army receives third Bell 412EPi

Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) has recently completed the delivery of the first three new Bell 412EPis to the Indonesian Army’s aviation command as part of an order for nine examples of the utility helicopter.

The third and latest helicopter to be handed over – test registration HX-4145 – left PTDI’s Bundung facility on its delivery flight to the Indonesian Army on February 19. The first of the new Bell 412EPis – serials HA-5224 (c/n 37025), formerly registered as HX-4143, C-GAJH – was delivered on December 29, 2020.

This was followed by the second – which will wear the serial HX-5225 (c/n 37026), currently registered as HX-4144 and formerly C-FUUC – was handed over on February 17. The latter joined Skadron Udara Angkatan Darat 11 Serbu (Army Aviation Attack Squadron 11) at Achmad Yani Airport in Semarang, Java.

Indonesia’s PTDI announced the order for the nine new Bell 412EPis on January 10, 2019, although the contract had been officially signed on December 28, 2018. All nine helicopters are being built by Bell Textron Canada in Canada, before being shipped to Indonesia for equipment and systems fitting out by PTDI. These aircraft will join 26 older model Bell 412s that are already operational in Indonesian Army Aviation service.
