Pitched as a fresh start for the country, Alitalia’s replacement began operations today. Key.Aero explains the context surrounding the new airline and details what the future has in store for the fledgeling carrier
ITA Airways (ITA) is the newly rebranded approach to the seemingly perpetually crisis hit Alitalia, which ceased operations yesterday after 74 years.
The new airline has been under the spotlight over the last few months, with the declaration of its creation and an aircraft order being the major announcements to come out.
With flights beginning today (October 15), ITA will be looking to use this opportunity to reset how the business operates and how it will aim to remain competitive in the future.
The state-owned entity made further news at the end of last month when it placed an order for 28 brand new aircraft while offering plans to lease an additional 56 airframes, bringing the total fleet into the strong eighties.
