Japanese KC-46A completes first refuelling sortie

The initial Boeing KC-46A Pegasus tanker for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) successfully refuelled another aircraft in-flight for the first time during a test sortie over Washington state on July 20.

Boeing announced the recent completion of this milestone on August 16, adding that the Japan-bound tanker successfully transferred fuel to another KC-46A and was itself refuelled during the test flight. Japan is the first export customer for the type and is scheduled to receive its first of four examples before the end of this year.
