During a conversation over a bottle of red wine with Elliot Young at Waihi Beach in New Zealand last year we discovered that both our fathers and my fatherin- law were bomber pilots during World War Two. Elliot noted that his late father, along with his Australian navigator, were the very last to bomb Berlin in April 1945.
This honour had already been bestowed upon another aircrew; we resolved to find out more. After extensive research, we have managed to uncover the truth behind one of the last raids of the war.
