Major assembly of first Belgian A400M completed

AIRBUS DEFENCE and Security has completed major assembly of the first A400M for Belgium, c/n 106, on the Final Assembly Line (FAL) at Seville-San Pablo Airport, Spain. Its future operator is 15 Air Transport Wing of the Belgian Air Component, which released an image of the aircraft, substantially complete, but still in primer, on the ramp at Seville on September 12.

Final assembly of c/n 106 had begun earlier this year and the aircraft is due for delivery to Brussels- Melsbroek next May. It is one of seven on order for Belgium. All are due to enter service by 2022. Additionally, Belgium will operate an eighth example on behalf of Luxembourg, which does not have its own air force. This aircraft, c/n 104, is also on the production line in Seville and will also be based at Melsbroek.
