New Croatian Destination for Orbx

Orbx has announced LDRI Rijeka Airport for Prepar3D v4 and v5 is released.

Developed by Rasha Tucakov, the airport features custom details, as well as a few Easter eggs along with static aircraft, ground service equipment and landside vehicles created exclusively for this project. Subtle elevation changes around the terminal and tower are modelled as 3D elements, which is something of a Rasha trademark. Detailed ground poly mapping, custom environment maps and PBR texturing can be seen across Rijeka, with a careful balance between detail and performance.

Beyond the airport, the coverage area extends to sections of Krk Island, Rijeka and surrounding area. Explore many of the beautiful beaches, the port at Bakar and Kraljevica, and the front ranges of the Dinaric Alps. Dozens of custom landmarks include the famous Krk Bridge (the third-longest concrete arch in the world), the Urinj and Omišalj oil facilities and many more. Hand-placed autogen and colour-balanced ground imagery ensure a seamless blend with the surrounding terrain, perfectly capturing the rugged feel of this part of Croatia.

The Real Airport

LDRI opened in 1970 and is well-known for is its striking Brutalist architecture for the terminal and tower, which has been faithfully reproduced by Orbx. Today, the airport caters primarily to the leisure market and is a destination for low-cost and legacy airlines from airports across Europe, the UK and Israel. Whilst regular visitors include Airbus A320s, Boeing 737s, Embraer E-Jets, L-410s and 757s, it is also host to corporate traffic and occasional 747 and MD-11 cargo flights. A Croatian Air Force Mi-17 (which has been modelled in the scenery) is based at Rijeka and remnants of the old military base can be found at the northern end of the field.

The package is available on OrbxDirect for AUD$34.95 AUD (approx. $24.26/€21,31/£19.12).
