Southend Airport shows its support for military community

The London hub has signed the covenant which is set to ensure those within the armed forces are treated fairly 

London Southend Airport has announced that it has signed the Armed Forces Covenant to show its support for the military community.  

The agreement is a promise by the nation that helps ensure the fair treatment of those who served or are still serving in the armed forces.

The airport has said that many of its employees are ex-military or have family members within the industry.  

“The airport has been a member of the community from the first world war,” said Glyn Jones, CEO of London Southend Airport. “Much has changed over the years, but we are keen to deliver on our commitment to bring benefits and opportunity. We pride ourselves in offering a diverse workplace and have 14 employees currently with a military background.” 

Southend’s RAF Air Cadet Squadron 1312 has been onsite at the hub for many years and is the largest is Essex. They are a registered charity which offer young people the opportunity to take part in activities such as flying, sports, target shooting and adventure training.
