London/Gatwick welcomed a new connection to Taiwan in when China Airlines touched down at the airport. Airliner World’s James Ronayne reports.

CHINA AIRLINES returned to London after a five-year break when it launched its service between Taipei/Taoyuan and Gatwick on December 1. The Taiwanese carrier withdrew from the UK market in March 2012, citing high oil prices and the European debt crisis, but the introduction of new technology – namely the Airbus A350 XWB – has enabled the airline to embark on an expansion of its European network.
