President Joe Biden’s administration submitted the Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) budget request of US$752.9bn for national defense on May 28, 2021, $715bn of which is for the US Department of Defense (DoD). This is an increase of 1.6% over the total enacted by the FY 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The request funds procurement and modernization programs for existing naval and air force strike fighter, bomber aircraft and army rotorcraft.
