It is about an everyman civilian in London, Richard Hannay, who becomes caught up in preventing an organization of spies called the 39 Steps from stealing British military secrets. After being mistakenly accused of the murder of a counter-espionage agent, Hannay goes on the run to Scotland with an attractive woman in the hopes of stopping the spy ring and clearing his name.

Hi All,
Star Trek Nemesis 2003(Via Sky Cinema) Last of the NGC sadly as they where just getting into they're stride with this film, I still think they could make another but being 15 years further on I feel the opportunity has passed. If they will ever make a last one should include to include members of the DS9 and Voyager cast IMHO as these Tv series where of the same timeline but I fear they will continue with the new JJ Abrams Kelvin timeline that reinvented the ST franchise on the big screen.at least which I also love....

As I say this though there are two ST films in the production phase one from director Quentin Tarantino which should be interesting as he wants an 18/R certificate for his :eagerness: The other ST film being a female directed by S.J.Clarkson and will be first into production :applause: http://trekmovie.com/2018/05/16/simon-pegg-explains-why-there-are-two-star-trek-films-in-development/

Nemesis Starring:- Patrick Stewart,Jonathan Frakes,Brent Spiner,LeVar Burton,Michael Dorn,Gates McFadden,Marina Sirtis,Tom Hardy,Wil Wheaton,Whoopi Goldberg,Ron Perlman,Dina Meyer,
John Berg,Kate Mulgrew,Shannon Cochran,Jude Ciccolella,Alan Dale,Wil Wheaton,Majel Barrett,Stuart Baird and Bryan Singer.

Capt. Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) diverts the starship Enterprise from its scheduled trip to Cmdr. Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Counselor Troi's (Marina Sirtis) wedding to negotiate a peace treaty with the Romulans. Picard is shocked when Shinzon (Tom Hardy), the new Praetor of the Romulans, admits to being a clone of him. When the crew members discover a break-in on their computer, they are forced into a life-or-death battle to stop Shinzon's Warbird before it can destroy the Earth.

Hi All,
Thunder Rock 1942 (Via Talking Pictures channel on Sky 328). Classic 40's B/W supernatural drama similar in part to ghosts of Christmas past from a Christmas Carol where the main character is shown the reasons for some of the passengers being on the doomed ship that sank before the main character was born. If you like these type of films then you will not be disappointed I really enjoyed the film.....

Starring:- Michael Redgrave,James Mason,Lilli Palmer,Barbara Mullen,Finlay Currie,Frederick Valk,Sybille Binder,Barry Morse,George Carney,Frederick Cooper,Jean Shepherd,Miles Malleson,
A. E. Matthews,James Pirrie,Olive Sloane,Tommy Duggan,Tony Quinn,Harold Anstruther,Alfred Sangster,Victor Beaumont,Gerard Heinz and Milo Sperber.

The film is based on the 1939 play Thunder Rock by Robert Ardrey, which had originally been a flop when staged in New York folding within three weeks, but proved to be considerably more successful in London where it ran for months in the West End. As the 1940s approach, British reporter David Charleston (Michael Redgrave) tries to alert the public to the political unrest that he believes is leading to another war with Germany -- but no one listens to him. So David gives up, retiring to a small town in the American Midwest, where he works as a lighthouse watchman. There he is visited by the ghosts of 19th-century ship captain Joshua Stuart (Finlay Currie) and his passengers, who try to persuade David to make a difference while he is alive.

Hurricane

The long-awaited English language version of the story of 303 Squadron.

The low-budget look of the film has been commented on frequently, but apart from that it isn't actually too bad a film. Welsh actor Iwan Rheon steals the show as real-life aviator Jan Zumbach, and it was great to see Dark Blue World star Krystof Hadek appearing as Czech pilot Josef Frantisek.

There are a couple of glaring inaccuracies (the black and white undersides of the Hurricane being wrong for the time period, for example), but I can live with that. Loved the fact that they used a Messerschmitt 108 to play the "bad guy" for a few scenes (most notably the shots looking back at a real Hurricane chasing it).

Not bad, but not brilliant, either. 3.5 out of 5.

Carnivore: Werewolf of London

The DVD cover says "it's like Dog Soldiers, but with civilians."

It's nothing like Dog Soldiers. It's crap. The only thing they have in common is their setting (a remote house) and the fact that the characters have very few options open to them to defend themselves from a marauding werewolf. There's a couple of gratuitous nude scenes that clearly show they were running out of ideas for the film.

1 out of 5. A little T and A stop this from being a complete write-off, but even that's being generous.

The Monster

Mother and daughter Zoe Kazan and Ella Ballentine must make their way to a relative's house in the middle of a massive rainstorm. In the process, the car breaks down, and they find themselves stalked by some kind of horrific monster.

A simple enough premise, with a rather good animatronic monster attacking them.

4 out 5.

The Void

A group of strangers stranded in a remote hospital become victims of a gruesome supernatural being that's being summoned from the depths of a place beyond hell.

Not bad, with plenty of prosthetic gore instead of CGI crap, but a bit confusing to follow at times.

3 out of 5.

Dark Blue World

An all-time favourite, telling the story of two Czech fighter pilots who come to the UK to fight against the Luftwaffe, and who end up falling in love with the same woman.

A solid 5.

Hi All,
Counter Attack 1945 (Via talking Pictures channel Sky328) Classic B/W 40's war film set on the eastern front, takes place in one location for the majority of the film. If you like war films then you should like this despite it's lack of action....;)

Starring:- Paul Muni,Marguerite Chapman,Larry Parks,Harro Meller,Roman Bohnen,George Macready,Eric Rolf,Ludwig Donath,Rudolph Anders,Philip Van Zandt,Frederick Giermann,
Wolfgang Zilzer,Ivan Triesault,Louis Adlon and Darren McGavin.

During World War II, two Russians, soldier Alexei Kulkov (Paul Muni) and navigator Lisa Elenko (Marguerite Chapman), are trapped underground with a group of Germans. Having recently witnessed a colleague's skillful interrogation of a Nazi prisoner, Kulkov tries to prod the enemy soldiers into sharing details about Berlin's strategy. But one of the Germans is just as shrewd, and he and Kulkov engage in a set of mind games that mirror the methods employed on the battlefield.

Clerks/Clerks II

Kevin Smith's classic comedies about two losers in crappy jobs trying to make a better lives for themselves.

One of the few occasions where I think the sequel is better than the original!

Mike Wallace,Heath Miller,Aaron Smith,Ryan Clark,James Farrior,LaMarr Woodley Casey Hampton and coach Bill Cowher),(Pittsburgh mayor - Luke Ravenstahl,
(United States Senator - Patrick Leahy) and Thomas Lennon.

It has been eight years since Batman (Christian Bale), in collusion with Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman), vanished into the night. Assuming responsibility for the death of Harvey Dent, Batman sacrificed everything for what he and Gordon hoped would be the greater good. However, the arrival of a cunning cat burglar (Anne Hathaway) and a merciless terrorist named Bane (Tom Hardy) force Batman out of exile and into a battle he may not be able to win.

I watched "First Man" on Tuesday in the USA. It is a biography of Neil Armstrong. Pretty good.

Hi All,
Kidnapped 1971 (Via Talking Pictures channel Sky 328). Dated now and probably historically inaccurate by todays standards ? None the less still watchable and you can forgive Michael Caine's Scottish accent, it's of it's time so not everybody would like this drama., but I did and that's the point....................;)

Starring:- Michael Caine,Lawrence Douglas,Vivien Heilbron,Trevor Howard,Claire Nielson,Jack HawkinsDonald Pleasence,Gordon Jackson,Andrew McCulloch,Freddie Jones,Jack Watson
Peter Jeffrey,Roger Booth,Geoffrey Whitehead and Terry Richards.

Following a bloody defeat at the Battle of Culloden in 1746, a naive young man, David Balfour, is cheated of his inheritance by an avaricious uncle.

Geoff.

Hi Geoff,

Regarding your question in post #1456, I didn't notice. Let me know if you watch the movie.
