-'Nam stuff
None of it works for me either.
It's the same for any war - most of the stuff that goes on goes unnoticed and unrecognised. The difference for the Vietnam war was that there was lots of film footage taken (presumably like this stuff, were it viewable) showing the roles of many of the support and sharp-end guys at work which would otherwise have merited no more than a mention in a log book or diary.
Loads of people put their lives on the line as they saw it as their duty to do so. These films show those folks at work in everyday scenarios we can only gawp at. You can imagine why some of the Vietnam vets were so embittered when they came home to find people indifferent and almost wholly ignorant of what they had gone through and done for them.
I look forward to being able to see some of this stuff.
Anon.

Very true and it all depends what you are into as you can end up concentrating on some subjects to the detriment of others (I know I have!).
I've always been interested in the air war over Vietnam, not least because of the bewildering range of roles and aircraft used, possibly a broader spectrum than any other air war.
Try and and catch 'The Ten Thousand Day War' TV documentary if you can, it used to be on telly quite regularly, the footage used in it was fantastic, and I regarded it as the Vietnam equivalent of WWIIs 'World At War'.
The book is brilliant aswel.

Make it more important i feel that we ensure we we keep Vietnam eras a warbirds/aircrews rembered at airshownd museums all around USA and Australia.
Ive never seen any of these films before and they are to me as a historian and enthusiast a good insight to what men and machines did in the war.
