Can anyone confirm that there are different (standard)bomb door contours?
Hi Cees,
The Mk. IIs were fitted with bulged doors.
Cheers

-Thanks Steve,
But that's not what I am after. If you look at pics of Mk I and III Lancs with closed bombdoors there is a slight step
in the contour. The nose has a graceful curve downwards but as the front edge of the bombdoors is reached the lines
seem to bulge slight out. Not very noticable but it's there anyway. If you look at early Mk I's the belly looks to be
paralell (flat) to the hingeline of the doors. Hope this makes sense.
Could this be to clear the cookie charge?

-I think I know what you are talking about now.
The Manchester had flat bomb doors when looked at in profile, presumably it carried over to those converted into Lancasters.
Is it apparent in this photo?

Hi all,
Looking at Lancaster pics there seem to be some some differences. On early Mk I's the doors
Look to be almost flat at the bottom when closed. Other pics show the bombdoors to be
A bit bulged and a slight break in the underside contour. This is not about the Tallboy doorscwhich are much
More bulged.
Can anyone confirm that there are different (standard)bomb door contours?
Cheers
