-The Japanese needed to keep control in some areas (Vietnam was one, I believe - 'Uncle' Ho was unhappy that the French were going to reclaim their territory and so fought on. I think) after the war was officially over. In some places they were given Allied officers but the soldiery was standard Japanese. I'd imagine that their air force was similarly utilised.

Hello,
This photo was included in a CBI photo album i just bought.
Can anybody explain what are those strange markings on this zero. They look like markings carried by a few Jap planes allowed to fly after surrender. I could understand this for transport planes. But a fighter !!
