Hi all,

I have had this item for a number of years now and I was wondering if anyone can tell me a bit more about it?

Thank you in advance!

Other than that it is as described, what else would you like to know about it?

Hi, Welcome to the forums, sorry I am late in replying, the Jag had two of them on the single seater and one on the twin seater.

On the two seater the  second seat took up areas that the avionics would have been fitted, so the stb gun was deleted and the gun and ammo bay were used for the relocated avionics.

if you look just under the front area of the Stb intake you will see the two bays where the ammo boxes slotted into. When the guns fired the cases were ejected overboard just aft and under the gun bays, the links were kept and there was a link bay under each gun that could be opened to collect the links

The guns  (Adens) fired 20mm rounds. If the aircraft was going on a land away etc, the crews had a  soft bag the same shape as your ammo box so they could replace the box with it and carry a change of clothes etc for the time away.

i hope that helps.

it looks like yours was used for training in teaching armourers to load them,  these can often be worn items or those removed at places like Cosford to teach armourers their trade.
