L3 to Launch US Airline Training Centre

Aviation training giant, L3 Commercial Aviation plans to launch its first US-based airline training centre. The complex – which is due to be located near Dallas/Fort Worth – will provide Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) training courses and dry leasing options for American airline customers.

The Arlington-based centre will use L3’s RealitySeven full-flight simulators (FFS) configured to recreate Airbus A320 and Boeing 737NG aircraft. The facility is due to come online in October this year.

Robin Glover-Faure, president of commercial training solutions at L3 said: “This investment reflects our confidence in the future of the commercial aviation sector and mirrors the growing demand for effective and efficient pilot training in the region and around the world.”

The centre will supplement L3’s existing US pilot training footprint, including the L3 Airline Academy in Sanford, Florida which trains more than 600 new civilian pilots every year. In a separate development, L3 has been awarded a contract by EgyptAir to provide the airline with a new Airbus A320 RealitySeven (FFS) for its training facility in Cairo.
