The Embraer EMB500, otherwise known as the Phenom 100, is part of a growing trend in aviation that has emerged in the last decade for Very Light Jets (VLJs) that offer luxury transport, efficient operation and the ability for aviators to fly single-handedly with a vast array of modern technology assisting the pilot in day-to-day use.
The development of the Phenom 100 traces back to the early 2000s, when Embraer recognised a growing demand for a new class of light jets that could offer greater performance and efficiency to people who would otherwise be flying piston or turboprop aircraft for business travel. As an entry-level jet, the journey to be regulated and type-rated on the Phenom 100 is a relatively simple one, allowing a new breed of pilot to experience jet travel by providing an easier step up from piston, turboprop and light aircraft.
This aircraft from Cockspur follows the developer’s last successful foray into models for Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) with their incarnation of the Citation C150 Mustang, a very similar platform to the Phenom 100 and one that aims to achieve similar things by removing traditional barriers to jet and luxury business travel.
