Vermont ANG's 158th FW: Converting to the F-35A

Two senior Vermont Air National Guard officers tell Ted Carlson of Fotodynamics.com about their unit’s conversion and the busy operational schedule since receiving the first F-35A in 2019.

Vermont, one of the six New England states, is also known as the ‘Green Mountain State’. Having flown the F-16A/C Fighting Falcon since 1986, the unit (known as the Green Mountain Boys) started preparing for the F-35A in 2017, after Vermont’s 158th Fighter Wing was chosen as the first Air National Guard unit to field the Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II. Their F-16Cs were to be redistributed to other units.
