The immaculately restored Avro Anson Mk.I MH120 is in need of a new home
Meticulously restored by a team led by Bill Reid over ten years, the aircraft is fitted with freshly overhauled Cheetah engines and features a host of original RAF cockpit and cabin accessories.
Following its ten years in the workshop, it has spent another decade delighting airshow crowds across New Zealand where it is based. The aircraft is painted to represent Anson K6183 which flew with the RAF’s 206 Squadron. Operating from Bircham Newton in Norfolk, K6183 was the first RAF combat loss of World War Two, when it was shot down by return fire from a Heinkel He 115 that it had engaged. The crew of the German floatplane did spot survivors in the water and alighted in a bid to rescue them. Of the four aboard the Anson, however, only Plt Off L H Edwards survived – he was first RAF officer to be taken prisoner in the war.
The sale of Anson MH120 is being handled by Classic Aircraft Sales.
