Seychelles installs biometric corridor

Travizory Border Security has installed a biometric corridor for traveller screening in the Seychelles to ensure contactless and secure travel for air arrivals.

The launch of a biometric corridor for health travel screening at Seychelles International Airport makes the Seychelles only the second country in the world, after the UAE, to utilise walk-through biometrics at its borders.

The ‘biocorridor’ identifies the individual traveller using facial recognition technology, checks their temperature and determines their classification for handling. Fully integrated with the Seychelles Islands Travel Authorisation system, the biocorridor validates whether the traveller has submitted required health documentation and has been authorised for travel by Seychelles Authorities.

Unlike existing biometric systems, the Travizory system is designed to match while on-the-go, meaning that travellers don’t have to stop to be identified but are instead identified while walking. This maximises flow of travellers: with a match time of less than one second per traveller, while the technology screens an average of 30 travellers per minute.

The system flags how each traveller has been categorised to the health officer on duty based on the risk assessment conducted pre-departure. Travellers may be directed straight to immigration, sent for medical examination, or sent for quarantine.
