Virgin Atlantic Eyes Manchester Hub

VIRGIN ATLANTIC plans to expand its presence at Manchester making the facility a network hub while adding more long-haul destinations.

Speaking to industry title Travel Weekly, Virgin’s executive vice president, commercial Juha Jarvinen said that the demise of Thomas Cook gave the airline an opportunity, whilst also stating that the region was underserved in both business and leisure traffic: “By growing Manchester connectivity, we can also grow our long-haul offering there. We believe we can build a network hub in Manchester that nobody has done before. When we welcome Flybe into the Virgin family it becomes easier.”

Virgin currently offers four year-round services from Manchester, while operating two seasonal routes to Los Angeles and Las Vegas/McCarran.
