Of the top ten global domestic air routes, eight are operating within the Asia-Pacific region while the top international links connect countries in the Middle East and North America to the Caribbean.
OAG has generated the rankings using its Schedules Analyser tool and has defined the busiest as those with the largest volume of scheduled seats in the current calendar month.
The top connection overall for February is between Jeju International and Seoul/Gimpo in South Korea which boasts nearly 1.2 million seats for this month.
Second on the list is a link between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. There is capacity for just over one million seats on this route for February. Third on the rankings is Sapporo New Chitose-Tokyo/Haneda with nearly 590,000 seats.
Within the US, a significant proportion of domestic travel is still being operated. The top four routes are all from Atlanta/Hartsfield Jackson International – which is where Delta Air Lines is based – to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Miami and Tampa respectively. Each route has between 215,000 and 150,000 seats for the month.
